So I'm done with my first week of school! Overall it was pretty fun and generally not too hectic or boring. I'm really going to like my Telecommunications class, and my other classes will be fun too. Though maybe a bit boring at times... *cough* Operations Management *cough* But I'm sure I'll figure it out.
So I was excited when I realized this week that I am finally allowed to donate blood! We have a campus-wide blood drive every year and every year I walk past the donation sites for three days and am bummed cuz I can't donate. So this year I signed up and filled out the questions and all that jazz...only to find out that my iron wasn't high enough to donate! Bummer. It was perfectly within the normal range for a woman, but just a bit too low to donate blood. But the people told me that iron levels fluctuate and if I wanted to take supplements and eat iron-rich foods I could probably donate in a month or so. So Ari (my roommate freshman year) said she would drive me to the blood bank if I want to in a month. So I'll work on it and we'll see how it goes!
My room is about three quarters unpacked and set up. I would have more of it done, but I ran into a problem. The beds in LaFortune (my dormitory) are bolted onto the frames at a certain height. But it isn't high enough to put anything under. Namely, my fridge. The beds in other dorms are adjustable, so I asked the maintenance crew if it would be possible to get one of those beds in my room. They said it would, but they're busy so it hasn't been done yet. So now my fridge is just sitting in the room, along with a bunch of other boxes of stuff that will go under the bed. Hopefully that will get done Monday so that I can finish unpacking!
Other than that I've pretty much gotten back into the rhythm of being in college. (Read "waking up at 8am and going to bed somewhere between 3 and 4am!") Speaking of which...it's 4:15am now, which is about bedtime for me, so I'll leave you with this!

Jess -- No one lets me donate blood either because I lived in the UK from 1984 to 1987. (They are worried about Mad Cow Disease.) I used to donate every time there was a blood drive on campus, too. I wonder if they will every change that rule.... Julie
